Memories & Photographers near me
People memories are so important
Just think when did you last really have a good memory of someone you really like or love beit family or a really dear friend, without having to delve into your phone to remind yourselve of when you last saw them or may be what they even look like now.
Children especially grow up so very fast - I’ve got photo’s on my phone when some good friends of ours invited us over for xmas - had a lovely time and the kids were like 8 & 4 years old. Now they are 19 and 15 and already thinking about university - I mean where did that time go.
Honestly I did a photo-shoot last week in a Care home - really lovely people, some with dementia some without some with slightly worse conditions, but to see them all there really lifted me as they all looked happy and were enjoying their time and making the most of things, and I must say with the brilliant care they were receiving from the care staff they were doing really well.
I remember looking at them all individually and tried to imagine their lives - where did they grow up - what was their first job - were they married - how many children did they have - any grandchildren now - what did they like to eat - what’s their favourite drink - I could go on forever. And when you really know someone just looking at a great picture of them sparks those type of thoughts and the better you know them the more of this detail comes flooding back.
For me looking at a poorly lit and badly composed image on a smart phone just doesn’t seem to do much for me ( even though I’ve got hundreds of images on my phone). BUT perhaps that’s just it, we all have hundreds of images on our phones BUT where are the really important ones, the ones that we would be prepared to hang in a decent size on our walls, the ones that will not be lost if our phones get stolen or get dropped down the loo.?
And perhaps one of the key things for me is when we search on google and we just click on the easy option of photographers near me - what does that really mean or do - does that mean you are being presented with the best option for you and for the photography you are hoping for or does that just provide you with a name regardless of what they are able to do.
Yes I know it all sounds like a bit of a gamble AND perhaps that’s just one of the reasons why people don’t seem to bother so much now with finding a great photographer and would rather rely on their own technology in their back pocket.
