Is this Photography thing funny

Why would I want to write a blog entry just to talk about is photography funny. Now I like Funny - but sometimes somethings are just not funny.

I mean when you have a love of something it drives you to do strange things like dedicate so much of your life to trying to be really good at it and spend a lot of time & money on it.

Photography is a bit like golf - It’s an expensive thing to do BUT you can enjoy it and you can get an amount of excercise from it - which of course adds to the health of the player.

When you start as a photographer you may start with a basic camera but quite soon you realise some of the limitations of it along with the same for kit or cheap lenses. And then you start working out what else there may be out there and how you can mortgage your life to be able to afford to buy it.

Then once you have all the gear you’ve identified that you REALLY need you find out about Flash and ading additional lighting AND then you realise it’s another thing you have to increase your mortgage for to be able to afford that.

Then you realise that you don’t really know how to use all of this shiny new kit you have so - it’s then that you start hunting down training courses and workshops and people and videos on Youtube so that you can spend months looking at and you get swamped with so much information most of it hasn’t gone into your brain - SO you have to do it all again..!

Lots of different photographer equipment
So much stuff

Now is that funny - it may be for someone looking in BUT for the photographer it generally isn’t especially when they realise how long this all takes and how much practice and time you need to get good with all of this stuff so you can start producing at least something of a reasonable quality so perhaps just perhaps you may be able to get paid for some of the work you are doing.

Sorry rant over and sorry it’s not all funny….

End of the Funny Photographer Norfolk

Well for this post anyway…
